1) Submit a photo that is a good size and very clear. The more detail in the face the better. The face you'd like drawn should be at least 2" on the photo and the eyes should be clearly visible. Remember, the detail of the final portrait is directly related to the high quality and clear focus of the photographs you send. If you wish to email an electronic copy (from a digital camera or scanned photograph), please be sure to send a high-resolution file. A 300 dpi or higher .jpg file is recommended. To cut down on the file size, crop the photo to just the face and shoulders. If I have a problem with your photograph, I will contact you immediately to discuss.
2) Below is a list of questions to answer and include with your photograph. If you would like to email your scanned or digital photograph to me, copy and paste the questions below into an email message and attach your photograph.

3) Once I receive the picture and information, I will e-mail or call you to tell you I have received it and establish a timeline for completion.
4) Once the portrait is finished, I will e-mail a scanned image of the drawing to you for final approval and any minor, last minute modifications. If you are not 100% satisfied with the final drawing I will promptly return any original photos sent. If you approve, please send payment in full to the address I have given you with the price quote. Payment should be made to Lya Rivers. I accept personal checks and money orders. Please make sure that you have confirmed with me the final price so there will be no discrepancies in the total amount.

Pencil Portraits are drawn from your photograph(s) on an 11"x14" high quality Bristol Smooth paper. The size of the actual drawing will be approximately 8"x11" to allow room for a mat and frame. To protect the finished piece, I spray a clear professional sealant.

Pricing
The basic prices are listed above and are often used without exception.
However, a few factors may affect the price (background, additional objects, etc), so I will always call with a final quote before beginning any portrait.
*Mat and frame are not included in above price. However, I would be happy to have your work matted and framed for you at a professional framing shop. A classic cream colored mat and oak frame will be used.
Announcements and Invitations: These personalized portraits are the perfect touch on engagement announcements, new baby announcements, wedding invitations, anniversary celebrations, family reunions, etc. Your commissioned portrait will be professionally printed on white premium stock paper with accompanying envelope. 50 cards with envelopes are $225. 100 cards with envelopes are $425. I will mail or scan a finished card first. Upon approval, please send full payment including shipping charges.
